This week is all about prepping for the lovely Festival of Nature in Bristol harbourside, which I'm chuffed to be part of this weekend. From a secret mobile cinema, to studying fossils and perhaps a visiting Dinosaur! It's the largest free nature festival and well worth a visit, even if you don't browse the eco-friendly design market :)

This year, I'm very excited to be exhibiting at a Christmas Design and Food event at the National Trust property Sutton House in London on 3rd-4th December. And if you visit armed with this jazzy flyer below, you get 2-4-1 entrance. Hooray!
I really need to get better at announcing events that I'll be exhibiting at prior to them happening... Anyone fancy being my social media manager? Anyhoo... The Embankment Summer Market organised by the wonderful City Showcase was brill as always. It felt like summer in a tropical jungle on the banks of the Thames, with food stalls, live music and designer shopping. Not much more to ask for really!
The Festival of Nature was as lovely an event as I'd hoped. Perfect free day out in Bristol, with appearances with plenty of furry and feathered friends, free trees and activities and some rather nice nature-focused shopping. Here's a young chap enjoying trying out my bamboo pens. For a full write up, I recommend heading over to Erin the Giraffe, photo used with permission.
Due to exhibiting at this beautiful event for the first time in the Newcomer's Market, (eek!) I've got bundles of tickets to give away!
You can either win general admission tickets or late night shopping tickets for the Thursday evening. There are a few ways you can win them. Just follow on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and comment to let me know what type of ticket you'd prefer. I look forward to meeting you there! (The Country Living Magazine Spring Show runs 16th - 20th March 2016. Prize is for admission tickets only, not transport or accommodation. Winners will be picked out of a hat and notified by the 2nd week in March. The hats decision is final!) Next weekend, I'll be taking part in this fab Bristol market! Pop down, say hi and browse some beautiful design-led gifts. It might be the weekend of Black Friday, but rise above the high street craziness and support small. I'll be attending: 28th-29th November 11am-5pm 12th-13th December 11am-5pm You can see all the event details here. In their own words:
Get ready for Bristol’s biggest independent Christmas market! It’s a FREE event and a perfect day out to bring your friends and family. On November 28th we are launching an action packed Christmas market, bringing you up to 100 brilliant stalls, a programme of live music, mulled drinks, entertainment, comfy seating with cosy blankets, fire pits, live art from Upfest, a special guest from Aardmann Animations and much more… Not to mention the real ice Ice Rink, brought to us by At-Bristol Science Centre in Millennium Square. The market runs along the Bristol’s beautiful waterfront, from the cascade Steps (by the Watershed), through Anchor Square (next the Aquarium) and around the Ice Rink in Millennium Square. At the heart of the market is our brilliant traders, the best local artisans, creators, designer-makers, producers, street food and experiential stalls. Finally don’t forget to get your skates on and visit Bristol city centre’s With tickets starting from £5 and discounts available on At-Bristol and Ice Rink tickets, the Harbourside really will provide a whole day out for all the family! Images courtesy of the organisers, ta very much. London friends! And anyone else interested, I'll be at the Embankment Summer Market this weekend (held in Victoria Embankment Gardens.) Come and say hi! Last year I accidentally coordinated with my stall... It's an ace design/food/music festival organised by City Showcase all for free!
You don't have to take my word for it - Time Out and The Evening Standard have lovely things to say, amongst plenty of other press: "This three-day sales spectacular brings together some of the brightest and most talented artists, artisans and fashion designers around." "The distinctly glamorous Embankment Summer Market is a unique, must-go event in a wonderfully scenic location on the Northbank of the Thames between Embankment Station and the Royal Courts of Justice and Somerset House." Come and say hi this weekend :) Things have been manic lately… I’ve been freelancing back at moo.com, orders are piling up and I’m trying to prepare for another Trade Show in early January that I’ve been selected for (more on that another time.)
So, in order to catch up a bit, I’m putting all my online shops on holiday as of this Monday until the New Year. If you’re thinking of ordering something for Christmas, it’ll have to be this weekend I’m afraid! www.notonthehighstreet.com/katemoby www.katemoby.com www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KateMoby :) BIG NEWS.
You may or may not of heard of it, but there's a massive trade show held in September at Olympia every year called Top Drawer, where people like John Lewis and Amazon come to pick new stock. There's a special section for 10 hand picked new designers called "Spotted" … And I've been chosen as one of the 10! Massive YAY and also EEK! So I'm frantically rushing around trying to work out how I could produce on a large scale, just in case someone big likes what they see! See here and here for my little profile piece on the website. Fingers crossed! Someone leading a meeting about market town Brackley fancied a display of non obvious images of the town to intrigue people, and encourage them to chew over the details of the place. They didn't have to promote it or put any spin on, just get people looking and thinking.
