A few months ago, I carried out some branding work for a new company (one of my favourite types of work - I love how many people now are stepping out bravely and making it happen for themselves!)
Next request on the list - banners! As per usual, I came up with a flurry of ideas for the Client to pick from.

It's been a great pleasure lately helping several new creative business get off the ground lately. One thing I often get asked, is the "right" way to price products. Obviously there are variations according to your specific requirements/product/service, but I put this together as a handy "rule of thumb." Hope it helps!
I'm super pleased to announce two new marvellous creative workshops that I'll be running in a lovely little craft premises in Brackley, Northhamptonshire.

Any further info required, please just holler! Now drum roll for the posters... The Banyan Tree in Brackley - home of Fair Trade products and artisan crafts. Plus now some illustrated and photographic cards and hand printed fabric Kate Moby goods. Yay! Plus they are connected to some pretty exciting workshop news coming soon... Watch this space!
Pretty ambitiously, I wanted to double the number of shops my products are in this year (a total target of 2...)
Aim low and you succeed!! You can see and even purchase some friendly illustrated animal cards in the lovely tearoom and farm shop Limes Farm in Farthinghoe. I can personally recommend both tea and cake. Although generally speaking, I'm fairly handy at the ole Photoshop, I've finally conquered my fear of the Pen Tool! Slow to the game no doubt, but it's opened up a whole world of curvy goodness! To celebrate, I turned some of my birds in Custom Shapes and plonked them on Etsy to spread the love.
When I was learning to dive in an African lake the best part of a decade ago, we always made sure we had a "buddy" with us - a fellow diver. If we ever lost our buddy, you have to signal, "I've lost my buddy" even if you can only see fish. Most likely because they were above your head and they could then see you were a little worried about their absence! In many ways, I'm finding being freelance is a little like that - you signal to everyone you can about what you do, even if only the fish can see you! You never know who might hear you and be interested. So this week, I've been telling shops, magazines, studios, the internet, anyone who will listen, just in case they'd been looking for someone who can do what I do. It's so basic, but I've only just realised that being freelance is like being on a constant job hunt... So if it is me you're looking for, hi! I've tried to put some things up to help being found, and would love to hear if you've found me through them! Feel free to like, link, pin or whatever! EtsySociety6Oh and I can't really fathom twitter, is it a necessary evil, or am I missing out big style?
I've launched myself somewhat tentatively at some Christmas markets this year... Please come and see me at:
2nd December The Old Needle Works in Redditch 15th - 16th December The Perch in Oxford If you let me know you visited because you've read this, I'll most likely be so grateful I'll throw free stuff at your face! Since I've been laid up with a broken foot (the doorframe and I had a misunderstanding...) I've literally been forced back to the drawing board. The car keys are officially out of bounds for a while.
It's made me realise how much I like making things, which is where all this new surface pattern malarky came from I think. A means to create "things" that people might take into their homes and love. So I've been researching, from fabric printing from Spoonflower to digital ceramic transfers for a china range... Hopefully there'll be a flurry of activity to show you soon! Dipping my toe into the Etsy pool... A tiny handful of things can be seen here.
Hoping to expand this once I can figure out some manufacturing processes of my own so I can list all the cushions and things currently made by other companies. Watch this space(ish)! |
