Polished off a sign writing commission yesterday.
I've done plenty of these before, but always on actual signs, so if they went wrong I could just hide them. Here the only solutions to messing up were either a huge can of Magnolia, or burning the shop down, depending on how melodramatic I was feeling... Thankfully neither was necessary as I was quite pleased how the poem came out for The Banyan Tree, Brackley. I ache today though! Someone leading a meeting about market town Brackley fancied a display of non obvious images of the town to intrigue people, and encourage them to chew over the details of the place. They didn't have to promote it or put any spin on, just get people looking and thinking.
This is what I came up with... Although generally speaking, I'm fairly handy at the ole Photoshop, I've finally conquered my fear of the Pen Tool! Slow to the game no doubt, but it's opened up a whole world of curvy goodness! To celebrate, I turned some of my birds in Custom Shapes and plonked them on Etsy to spread the love.
So far my Facebook business page has been a real encouragement and worth putting myself out there. (Those "likes" are addictive.) I wanted to create a way of quickly showing newcomers what I'm all about, hence this header... What do you think? I think it demonstrates that I like blue very well. Ah blue.
First special offer of the year! Free shipping on all my iPhone cases etc stocked by Society 6.
Follow the link for the special promo code, which expires 13th Jan. http://society6.com/KateMoby?promo=14bb5a Enjoy :) A lovely lady mistook my hand-printed fabric buttons for earrings, which I thought was a jolly marvellous idea! So here is my tiny jewellery range, which you may have spied if you'd popped in to say hi at the Christmas markets last year. Always fun to design new packaging too! So far available in sets grey, blue and birds in "Midnight" in the shop! Each set will have two large and two small pairs. The earrings are silver plated and nickel free, as are the rings. Everyone likes things to match, so here are some rings, also available in the shop, so far in large (30mm button) and small (15mm button) birds in "Midnight!" The rings are adjustable and silver plated, and of course, hand printed.
I'm staring down Christmas like a head on collision, but have still managed to sneak some hand made products in there for a couple of First Christmas presents for some tiny people I know. No better time for some personalised zebras printed in Midnight Blue I thought! Are Zebras just for Christmas, or should I add them to the repertoire?
I ordered some fabric from Spoonflower. You send your design and it's digitally printed onto one of their categories of fabric. I chose some luxuriously heavyweight linen-cotton canvas, and frankly love it!
I used some of my more intricate designs that would be entirely impossible to screen print in my make do and bodge "workshop." Paired with some heavy creamy Calico, a hand printed button or two, home printed label (scroll down for tutorial) and my new sewing machine (a wonderful surprise gift from my parents) I created some super squishy cushions! Super excited to present my new ceramic range, Blue Trees. I'm hoping to build up stock soon, but at the moment they're made to order, so please get in touch asap if you fancy some for Christmas.
